Full Report – Double Up Food Bucks 2017 Evaluation

 In English

We’re pleased to announce the release of the full report of our Double Up Food Bucks 2017 Evaluation. Funded by a USDA Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) grant and with the help of partners statewide, Nourish launched the Double Up Food Bucks program in Colorado in 2016, offering SNAP shoppers a $1 match of fresh Colorado-grown produce for every $1 they spend on SNAP-eligible items at 42 locations throughout the state. In 2017, the number of locations more than doubled as did the number of new SNAP customers and total dollars spent. This is great news in that more Coloradans are eating healthier—and stretching their dollars further—because they are able to afford more fruits and vegetables. It’s also great news for the farmers and vendors—66% reported they sold more fruits and vegetables.

You can read all about our 2017 findings in the full version of the report, which we have linked to below. It includes results from the 2017 program, recommendations for the future, and a look at innovative outreach strategies like our Community Food Advocates program, which has expanded the reach of the program.
